Pastor Elliot and Jamie C. Burnette
Administrative Pastor/Worship and Creative Arts
Rev. Elliot C. Burnette
Anointed. Compassionate. Creative. These are just a few words that describe Elliot C. Burnette. A son of the church, he grew up in Los Angeles, California and was profoundly influenced by his grandfather, the late Rev. Robert Dickson, who served as Assistant Pastor of the Southwood Baptist Church – the church where Elliot accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Southwood served as the incubator for Elliot’s burgeoning musical skills as he learned and played drums, keyboard, and Hammond organ.
At the age of 12, God began to stir Elliot’s heart towards ministry, and he fully embraced his call to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in adulthood. Since that time, he has served as an Associate Minister, as well as Minister of Music in local churches.
Elliot is a proud veteran of the United States Navy, and has completed Project Management certification from Villanova University, and has studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. God has used this background to mold Elliot into an anointed minister, musician, composer, and producer whose greatest hope is to touch as many people as possible with the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Elliot currently serves as the Administrative and Worship Pastor of the South Boston Church of God, and is the loving and devoted husband to his wife, Jamie, and proud father of two daughters, Cianna and Eliana.
Rev. Jamie C. Burnette, M.Div.,M.A.
Passionate about education, Jamie is a fourth-generation ordained Christian minister, and educator, and she is dedicated to providing opportunities for people to learn how to be whole and live well, while positively impacting their families, communities, and the world.
Jamie is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University, Wesley Theological Seminary, and The Catholic University of America, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Near Eastern Studies, a Master of Divinity, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies. She is currently pursuing her PhD in education at Seattle Pacific University where, prior to her tenure at SBCOG, she served as full-time faculty for nearly five years in the Scripture department of the School of Theology, and as the Coordinator for Contextual Education at Seattle Pacific Seminary.
With nearly 20 years of ministry experience, including pastoral ministry, and nearly 10 years of experience in higher education, Jamie has a wealth of wisdom with respect to teaching, learning, and leading in both ministry and academic settings, and feels most fulfilled when she is able to serve both the academic and church communities.
Jamie now happily shares her life with her beloved husband Elliot serving alongside him in the Worship Ministry at the South Boston Church of God, and as principal of Halifax Christian School. And she is proud to be a bonus mom to two exceptional bonus daughters, Cianna and Eliana.
Her life bears witness to the words of Jesus from sacred text that: “…with God, all things are possible,” and she seeks to live daily in gratitude for that being a reality in her life.
